Tens place

Place value = 4 hundreds = 4 × 100 = 400

Thousands place

Expanded Form

When we write a number as the sum of the
place values of its digits, the number is said

to be in expanded form. As we move to the left, the digit’s place
value increases 10 times.
Example 4. Write the expanded form of 5736.
